ICRS Frequently Asked Questions

How long will ICRS last?

The material ICRS are made from is PMMA. This has been implanted in eyes for over 50 years and is very well tolerated. There should be no deterioration in the material.

When will I be able to drive and return to work?

Most people have vision that is legal for driving without glasses on the day of surgery.

What should I do after the procedure?

Arrange for someone to drive you home after the procedure and spend the rest of the day relaxing at home. Avoid strenuous activities for 48 hours. Although you will be quickly able to resume your normal activities, Dr Wolfe will confirm this with you personally.

All eye surgeons are well trained enough to do ICRS surgery - aren't they?

No, the level of experience of the individual surgeon is a major consideration and we encourage you to do your homework. The surgeon must be certified for the procedure.

How can I be sure of the safest procedures?

Dr Wolfe is fastidious about infection control and employment of best practice surgical procedures. Dr Wolfe uses a completely separate surgical set-up for each eye. This practice is by no means universal to all clinics in Australia. At Vistaeyes all of our equipment is only used by Dr Wolfe ensuring consistency, sterility and the highest of safety procedures.
