What is ASLA?How does ASLA work? What is ASLA (also known as LASEK)?ASLA stands for Advanced Surface Laser Ablation. This procedure is commonly used at Vistaeyes. ASLA is indicated for patients with thin corneas and/or high prescriptions where there is not enough room on the cornea to perform LASIK. ASLA vision correction is achieved by gently removing the cell layer that sits on the surface of the cornea like a skin. At Vistaeyes we use the Wavelight® EX500 excimer laser to reshape the inner corneal tissue with its ultra-thin laser pulse, sculpting the corneal surface of the eye with the utmost accuracy. It utilises a high-speed eye-tracker, checking the eye's position and ensuring an accurate placement of each laser pulse on the cornea. Dr Wolfe is one of the most experienced ASLA surgeons in Victoria and is recognised worldwide for his skills in performing this procedure. |
