What is LASIK?

LASIK (LASer In situ Keratomileusis) is the most common procedure for corrective laser surgery, with over 31 million* cases performed worldwide in the last 20 years. In Australia alone we perform approximately 40,000 cases per year. LASIK is the second-most performed surgery in the world, surpassed only by cataract surgery.**

LASIK surgery involves creating a thin flap of corneal tissue using the blade-free IntraLase. At Vistaeyes we use the Allegretto Wave® Eye-Q excimer laser. This laser reshapes the inner corneal tissue with its ultra-thin laser pulse, sculpting the corneal surface of the eye with the utmost accuracy. The PerfectPulse Technology™ utilises a high-speed eye-tracker, checking the eye's position 400 times per second and ensuring an accurate placement of each laser pulse on the cornea.

As one of the first surgeons to perform LASIK in Victoria, Dr Wolfe continues to be one of the most experienced in Australia. He has performed over 10,000 refractive procedures over the course of his career.
