Dr Justin Sherwin BMedSc(Hons) MBBS(Hons) MPhil MChir PhD(Cantab) FRANZCO is an experienced ophthalmologist who performs Cataract Surgery, Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE) Surgery and Implantable Collamer Lens (ICL) Surgery.

At Vista Eyes, Dr Sherwin focuses on tailoring vision correction to suit your lifestyle and visual needs. He offers a full range of lens-based refractive options, including blended vision (also known as monovision) and advanced intraocular lenses such as extended depth of focus and multifocal designs, which are intended to reduce dependence on glasses.

Dr Sherwin also has experience performing cataract surgery in more complex cases, including patients with co-existing conditions like glaucoma or macular degeneration, as well as those who have previously undergone laser vision correction (such as LASIK or PRK).

Background & Qualifications

After graduating from Monash University medical school, Dr Sherwin completed several postgraduate degrees in epidemiology and eye research at the University of Cambridge, UK. His ophthalmology training was based at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital (RVEEH), Melbourne. Sub-speciality fellowship training in cataract and glaucoma surgery was undertaken at Oxford Eye Hospital, UK..

He has been awarded numerous prestigious awards, scholarships and research grants, written over 50 publications on eye research, and presented at many national and international conferences.

Dr Sherwin holds a public appointment at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital (RVEEH) and supervises and mentors training cataract surgeons. He also works at Peninsula Eye Centre, Mornington.
