Presbyopia

(READING GLASSES)

What is Presbyopia

Presbyopia is a common age-related change in vision that makes it harder to focus on close objects, especially small print. It usually starts to affect people from their mid-to-late 40s.

This happens because the lens inside the eye becomes less flexible with age. As a result, the eye has more trouble shifting focus from distant to near objects, which can make everyday tasks like reading or using a phone more difficult. Many people with presbyopia find they need reading glasses or multifocal lenses.

It’s sometimes confused with long-sightedness, but the causes are different. If you’re starting to notice changes in your near vision, we can help. Visit the presbyopia treatment section to explore your options.
