Dr Rick Wolfe attends RANZCO Scientific Congress 2022

RANZCO 2022: Dr Rick Wolfe at the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists Scientific Congress

Dr Rick Wolfe recently attended the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (RANZCO) 2022 Scientific Congress in Brisbane. The event welcomed over 1,700 delegates from Australia and overseas. It is a leading meeting for vision professionals, featuring the latest research and clinical updates.

Contributions to Visual Standards and Military Ophthalmology

As Chair of the Visual Standards Committee, Dr Wolfe joined a meeting with the National Transport Commission (NTC). This group advises on visual standards for driving and licencing in Australia. Furthermore, Dr Wolfe serves on the Military Ophthalmology Committee. The committee provides guidance on vision needs and clinical matters for service members.

Scientific Insights and Professional Collaboration

Dr Wolfe attended many scientific lectures at RANZCO 2022. He especially appreciated a session by Professor Michael Belin from Arizona, USA. Prof Belin discussed new ways to interpret corneal maps. This helps ophthalmologists avoid operating on weak corneas. As a result, the knowledge supports safer and more evidence-based laser eye surgery in Melbourne.

Dr Wolfe said, “It was wonderful to reconnect face-to-face with colleagues and friends after the past two years.” This opportunity allowed for valuable collaboration and the sharing of new ideas.
